Embracing the Dharmic Lineage: Our Yoga School in the Daśanāmi Sannyasa Sampradaya (Tradition of Adi Shankaracharya).
Our yoga school proudly traces its roots to the illustrious lineage of Adi Shankaracharya, the revered Indian Vedic scholar and teacher whose profound wisdom and teachings have had a transformative impact on the spiritual landscape of India. Shankaracharya’s legacy, often called the Daśanāmi Sannyasa lineage, serves as the guiding light for our yoga school, shaping our approach to yoga and spirituality.
shri adi shankaracharya
was an Indian Vedic scholar and teacher (acharya),[4] whose works present a harmonizing reading of the sastras, with liberating knowledge of the self at its core, synthesizing the Advaita Vedanta teachings of his time.[5][web 1] The title of Shankracharya, used by heads of the amnaya monasteries is derived from his name.
Swami Sivananda Saraswati
In the late 1920s, Swami Sivananda went to Rishikesh and started to explore other forms of classical yogas and to develop a system of yoga to integrate the faculties of head, heart and hands and awaken the self. In 1963, after traveling for nine years to assess the needs of society, he established the Bihar School of Yoga. Here he began to teach yoga as a system to discover the creative self and enhance the beauty and harmony of life.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
was a Sanyasi, yoga teacher and guru in both his native India and the West. He was a student of Sivananda Saraswati, the founder of the Divine Life Society, and founded the Bihar School of Yoga in 1964. He wrote over 80 books, including the popular 1969 manual Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
is the successor of Satyananda Saraswati, founder of Satyananda Yoga, who passed on the worldwide coordination of Satyananda Yoga to Niranjanananda in 1988. He was given the third-highest civilian award in the country, Padma Bhushan, in 2017 for distinguished service of high order in the category/field of the prominence of Yoga.
Pradeep G
had the blessed opportunity to be accepted as a disciple by his guru, Paramhamsa Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati ( In the lineage of Shri Adi Shankara, Swami Sivananda, Swami Satyananda ). At Gangadarshan, a gurukul along the banks of river Ganga in Bihar, Pradeep spend two full years IMBIBING and LIVING yoga.
Amaresh
He holds a Master’s Degree in Yogic Sciences from Bangalore University. He then Completed his Basic Yoga Vedanta Course from Devine Life Society Rishikesh, having also finished RYT200 and RYT300 back in 2012.
Since then he has been training Yoga in the Hatha yoga tradition, besides practicing Ashtanga yoga for personal Sadhana.
Aarti Narayan
One breath at a time. She learned with Pradeep G & Srivatsaramaswamy.
Yashwanth Panyam
He rediscovered himself through the practice of yoga under the guidance of Amaresh & Aarti N. Soon he realized how ecstatic the whole experience of yoga practice is. He decided to learn more in-depth Under the guidance of Pradeep G ( a1000yoga). Yashwanth started assisting his master’s teacher soon after accomplishing his teacher’s training. He decided to Utilize his knowledge through yoga for people suffering from severe physical and mental alignment.
Hence now the whole idea of Pratyaksha Yoga came into the picture. Yashwanth Is the founder and director of Pratyaksha Yoga. The objective is to introduce the real aspects of life through Yoga.
Jalyssa Roycroft
Jalyssa began her yoga journey half a decade ago in her home country of Canada. Upon moving to India, Yoga became the vessel that helped her find her footing in her new home country. As her passion for yoga grew, Jalyssa completed her teacher training under the tutelage of Yashwanth. With an educational background in Psychology and Sociology, Jalyssa remains enthralled with Yoga as a means of personal evolution and a way to improve our interactions with society, so that we can live a more fulfilled and harmonious life.
Natraj Padmanabhan
Natraj got introduced to Yoga at the age of 12. Since 1996 he has been conducting trips in Himalayas – called Voyage of Self Discovery- involving Yoga and Mystique of the Himalayas.
The experience of adventure and journeys within – in both the Himalaya and in Yoga have made him a staunch believer in the experiential learning model. He has been leading and conducting Adventure based outbound training programs for Corporates and Educational Institutions for a couple of decades.
In 2019 he completed a 200 HR RYT(Yoga Alliance) Teachers Training under Yashwanth from Pratyaksha Yoga. He has been inspired to work with people with physical and psychological issues.
Covid put an end to the physical travel which opened the doors to deeper inner journeys and teaching Yoga full time. He considers himself fortunate for the opportunities to help people cope with stressful times through Yoga.
Practising and Teaching Yoga is now an integral part of life along with curating experiential trips in the Himalaya.
